Treatment Guidelines
Progress and duration of the treatment program depend upon the individual
skin texture of the client. Which AHA products are used and the length of
the treatment depend upon the tolerance and sensibility of the individual's
skin. To determine the degree of sensibility of the skin and to define the progress
of the time of treatment AHA, a tolerance test is required at the beginning,
using AHA 10%. The average of duration of the treatment is 6 weeks and
consists of 4 peeling treatments for 30 minutes each; the time between
appointments or visits to the Beauty Salon must be exactly 7 days.
Protocol For a Treatment Program
First Week: The first appointment to the Beauty Salon is for
a preliminary consultation on the treatment, anamnesis and
skin analysis of the client in connection with an AHA sensibility Test.
Important points of the preliminary consultation:
- First determine the client's sensibility for Alpha Hydroxy Acids.
- Target, procedure and duration of the AHA treatment.
- Cooperation in the home care.
- Cosmetic History. Questions are asked about the client's cosmetic
history which formulas she or he is using at this time (in the case of
new clients) and whether she or he has already had experience of
peeling treatment (ex: Vitamin A Acid). The skin problems to be
solved are determined together with allergies or hypersensitivities
to certain substances

AHA Sensitivity Test:
After the skin analysis, a sensibility test using AHA 10% is made; to do
this, the emulsion is applied to the face like a facial mask using an
application brush; the exposure time is approx. 5 minutes.
If after 5 minutes no erythema of red color does show on the skin, it is a
sign that the product AHA 10% has been well tolerated and the
treatment can begin without any reservation.
If erythema occurs, a further test should be made, using a weaker AHA
concentration. The concentration of the AHA 10% can be reduced
to 5% by mixing with Rosa Graf Rosana Liquid (Art. No. 119); in the
event of good tolerance, the AHA treatment should be made with
this concentration: The client is given the preparation AHA 10% and
SunTIME SPF17 for the use at home.
First Treatment:
After cleansing - toning should absolutely be eliminated here -
apply AHA 10% to the skin. A characteristic tickling happens
immediately, this however wears off around 30 seconds.
Care is continued during the day with SunTIME SPF17, in the
evening with one Rosa Graf product for the night
care (water/oil emulsion) Blue Line Crème Regenerative.
Second Week:
Second Salon appointment: A skin analysis is performed, the
observations noted and the same skin tolerance test as described
above should be made using AHA 10%. In case of good tolerance
you should recommend the client to continue using AHA also at home.
She or he now uses AHA 10% twice daily.
If however the 10% preparation causes erythema in the test, you
recommend that your client continue to use it diluted in Rosa Graf
Rosana Liquid , in same parts (1:1), to lower the strength of the
AHA to 5% at home for one week. The phase for the skin to get
used to AHA products is thus prolonged; all the other steps of
the treatment are postponed this way by one week.
Third week:
Third Salon appointment: for the first Peeling
treatment with AHA 35%.
Procedure for the Peeling treatment with AHA 35%
-
Duration: approximate 30 minutes
-
Cleansing – AmintaMed Wash
-
Toning – AmintaMed Tonic
-
In case of sensitive skin and/or broken capillary use for
cleansing, Rosa Graf Cleansing Milk and Rosa Graf
Cleansing Tonic for toning.
-
Always make sure that the eyes are covered (a moist wad
of cotton with some drops of tonic for the eyes; Rosa Graf Eye Tonic.
-
Place enough AHA 35% for the treatment of the face, neck
and chest area into a ask dish and apply to the skin in even
strokes using a brush for the application.
-
The application must be performed rapidly and should
not take longer than 15 seconds.
-
After 2 minutes to a maximum of 4 minutes, immediately
when the erythema appears, remove the residue using a
viscous sponge. Because of the extreme pH Acid value in
the product you should wear protective gloves to do this.
-
If spontaneous and strong erythema appears, remove AHA
with water. Make the treatment again in a lower level, so that
the client continues accustoming her or his skin at home with
AHA 10% for one week before the next Salon treatment with AHA 35%.
-
After removing the AHA Peeling, a soothing face mask should
be applied; preferably Rosa Graf Soothing Mask - soothing
formulated especially to be used with the AHA treatments.
Soothing mask in emulsion oil/water or water/oil (cream mask)
is not suitable.
-
Time of exposure for the soothing mask: 10-15 minutes followed
by removal with a cosmetic sponge and water.
-
Toning, Rosa Graf Cleansing Tonic
-
Final care: AHA 10% followed by SunTIME SPF17.
-
A light day make-up is permitted.

NOTE: Do not apply any mechanical or biological peeling before the AHA treatment.
Fourth Week
Fourth visit to the Beauty Salon: Appointment for the second Peeling
treatment. The second Peeling treatment is also done using AHA 35%,
the procedure is exactly the same as the one described for the third w
Fifth Week
Fifth visit to the Beauty Salon: Appointment for the third Peeling treatment.
Sixth week:
Sixth visit to the Beauty Salon: Appointment for the fourth Peeling treatment.
The procedure of the treatment is again the same as that of the third week.
At the end of the AHA treatment:
After the course of the treatment use of the home care product AHA
10% must be continued if the result achieved is to be maintained.
Continue applying AHA 10% to the skin twice daily directly after
cleansing (including toning) before using the day or night care.
Before applying the oil/water emulsions (day creams) it is advisable
to allow some few minutes for AHA 10% to take effect.
Salon Peeling Session to maintain the results: every 4-6 weeks with AHA 35%.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
-
The eyes must be covered for protection at every treatment.
-
When removing/applying AHA 10% and AHA 35% always
use a brush and/or protective gloves.
-
Do not exceed the exposure time of 4 minutes
maximum during the Peeling.
-
Avoid open wounds or scratches.
-
Reaction to the AHA products, just as a characteristic sensation
of tickling, some burning will occur – not to be scratched - .
This is absolutely normal and no cause to stop the treatment.
-
The sensation begins right after the application of the products
and it lasts for one minute with the home products. With the salon
products it lasts during the whole treatment. As the high
concentration of AHA causes the renovation of the epidermis
it can happen that a latent, not developed inflammation is
discovered, it is assumed that this is a result of the deep
acting effect of the AHA treatment and does not mean intolerance
to the formulation. Explain this principle to the client during
the first consultation.
-
Stay with your client for the whole time of the treatment so that
you can answer questions and calm anxieties and act appropriately
in the event of some reaction.
-
During the course of the treatment the client should always use
SunTIME SPF17 during the day and avoid all UV
radiation (sun light, solarium).
